If some in politics were to be believed Covid is all over. The right-wing of the Tory party are furious the last lockdown constraints are still in place. The government promises that they will be gone for good in four weeks. But then I got sent the notice that is the subject of these tweets:
Westminster council is acting for all 32 London boroughs.
£6 million is being spent on having emergency body storage.
Of course you could just say this is wise contingency planning. But not in mid-June 2021 is it. In mid-June 2021 it looks like panic in the face of an anticipated Covid wave.
This is not all over. Not by a long way.

So going forward the Government do intend that we live alongside Covid in order to get back to ‘normal’ and they know that arrangement to satisfy a section of its own party will kill people.
I do know that on occasions there have been incidents when NHS Mortuary Facilities have been overwhelmed – not by COVID and emergency arrangements have been put in place.
What we dont know though is is this a ‘new’ contract or one that gets relet every 4 years?
Logic might suggest that such arrangements may have bene in place for some time and £1 million PA between 32 boroughs isnt much per borough
The timing.makes it feel like a new contract
