Martin Wolf's list of economics books for 2020 includes not a single title I have read, and rather bizarrely omits the best seller - Stephanie Kelton's 'The Deficit Myth'. But it's worth a look, nonetheless.
Why is that? Because what it shows is that there is now a prevailing narrative that challenges the economic orthodoxy of neoliberalism with a green / MMT tinge to a lot of it.
So my question becomes which book on the list do I most want to read? It is this one:
And a note to my family: I am planning to buy my own copy, before Christmas.

I found the degrowth book of Georgos Kallis an informative and balanced read. Note that Hickel also discusses connections to MMT.

It’s a great read, Richard, from the early stuff on the enclosures, to the importance of dualism in establishing capitalism. This and Kelton have been the two outstanding economics books of 2020 for me.
I must get it…..

I’m anti Georgian, but have you read Progress and Poverty by Henry George. Also Protection or Free Trade for a shorter and prescient exposition of the tariff?
