There have to be moments light relief. This was one, last night:
That was Bill Bailey redefining dad dancing in style, and with clear ability, a bucket load of hard work, intelligence and conviction. I admit to being hooked.
At the same time the weekend brought bad news. A couple or so weeks ago Mark Cooney, with whom I make the videos, was ill and we took a week off. Now Mark has to go into hospital for an operation. The first concern is his well being: I am wishing him well.
Second, this does mean normal video service is disrupted. Mark has lent me a camera. I may have a go. But this is not something I have ever tried. I will see how this goes.
And has anyone got an idiot's guide to easy video editing they can share? I use a Mac.

You can use the iMovie app that can be downloaded for free at the App Store. It’s got the usual Help menu and it should be enough for what you do in your excellent videos.
It is a bit limited, though, and if you want something less gitchy (though a bit more elaborate), try the FREE Blender Opensource app at

Unless you want to become a pro video editor use Fiverr where there are some great people for only a few ££. Much better use of time that trying to do your own.

Oti Mabuse may become the first pro dancer to win in successive years. As the BBC try to avoid this at all costs in the pairing they must have hugely underestimated Bill’s ability. #neverrightofftheoldguy.

Yes, Bill was brilliant; ‘Dad dancing’ of the highest order. If only I could get anywhere near that standard! He was one of three I voted for. A most entertaining evening. Its always difficult for the older contestants to win. It would be fantastic if he did.

I edit really basic video on the Mac, I use software called Screenflow, pretty simple interface compared to more high end editors like Final Cut Pro, and relatively cheap. There should be plenty of tutorials online, and the manual is pretty good: https://www.telestream.net/screenflow/overview.htm
