Far from the madding virus

Posted on

Social distancing was not a problem on my walk today, along the Little Ouse river. In this photo, with its truly East Anglian sky, it is just possible to make out the silhouette of Ely Cathedral eight miles to the south, just to the right of the line of trees in the centre distance, with nothing in between to break the view. That's the fens for you.

I've lived around here for nearly twenty years now and not done this walk before. It was beautiful, drawn to a close only my ageing dog eventually suggesting that maybe it really was time to turn back.

There are moments when it is good to forget the blog - although, rather bizarrely, there was an excellent internet signal.
