Off to Enniskillen – live at the G8

Posted on

I guess it's time to mention that on Monday and Tuesday I will be blogging from the G8 summit at Enniskillen, Northern Ireland.

I am one of a small team of bloggers that the IF campaign have asked to go to the summit.

Now I'm aware there have been criticism of the IF campaign - not least from trade unions. Some of those concerns I understand: I certainly ask for more than it does on tax, and will be when in Northern Ireland. Equally I know the problem of getting NGO coalition agreement on anything.

But what is, I think, beyond dispute is that tax is on the agenda at the G8 largely because of civil society efforts - because there is no way automatic information exchange, transparency, tax avoidance and country-by-country reporting would be there otherwise. IF members helped enormously in achieving that.  And that's what I will be going to talk about.

I will be blogging for the IF@G8 site, but everything I do will also be coming out here.
