I was born in Jersey and listened with growing sadness and anger. My father’s two elder brothers fought in WW1, one of them being killed after 3 years service. In WW2 my father and his two brothers were all in action.One uncle won an OBE for his work in planning D-Day. My parents were not there during the occupation but my father served four years as a prisoner of the Japanese. They fought -as the phrase has, to make the world safe for democracy’.
This is not what they fought for.
