September’s ‘Want Work’ figures

September’s ‘Want Work’ figures | ToUChstone blog: A public policy blog from the TUC.

This is important:

There are five and a half million people who want work and either haven’t got a job or can’t work as many hours as they would like.

Unemployment is a disaster. This proves the impact is bigger still - much bigger.

I hate the implication of these figures in ufulfilled potential, wasted opprtunity and frustrated ambition.

Economists and Tories who argue against inrtervention in the economy say that this is OK becasue recessions indicate people do not want to work. This is a lie.

Let's be blunt - politicians who ignore this ignore their duty to the people of this country.
