Lafferitis has proved surprising deadly. Most people appear now to think that high taxes damage growth and and counterproductive at revenue raising.
Rightwing media owners actively foster this falsehood. Even the BBC struggles, no doubt partly because of ignorance and partly because key people are allowed to avoid tax on their income from the BBC.
It’s going to be an uphill struggle.
