{"id":92755,"date":"2026-06-01T16:33:40","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T15:33:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/?p=92755"},"modified":"2026-06-01T16:34:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T15:34:09","slug":"iran-says-enough-is-enough-the-strait-of-hormuz-is-shut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2026\/06\/01\/iran-says-enough-is-enough-the-strait-of-hormuz-is-shut\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran says enough is enough: The Strait of Hormuz is shut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CNBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/06\/01\/iran-us-negotiations-strait-of-hormuz.html?taid=6a1d918b50b8400001994920&amp;utm_campaign=trueanthem&amp;utm_content=main&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has reported in the last few minutes:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Iranian\u00a0negotiators will stop exchanging messages with the U.S. through intermediaries, and Tehran will move to fully close the\u00a0Strait of Hormuz, in retaliation for ongoing\u00a0ceasefire violations, Iran\u2019s state-affiliated news outlet Tasnim said Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The report, in a translated post on the social media site Telegram, homed in on Israel\u2019s military operations in Lebanon against the Iran-backed militia Hezbollah.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cNo dialogue will take place\u201d until Israel fully withdraws from occupied areas in Lebanon and stops all attacks in both Lebanon and Gaza, per Tasnim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlso, the resistance front and Iran have resolved to completely block the Strait of Hormuz and activate other fronts including the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, in order to punish the Zionists and their supporters,\u201d the report said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I hate to say it, but that recession is on its way then. This is going to get very ugly.
