{"id":9048,"date":"2011-03-03T13:12:27","date_gmt":"2011-03-03T11:12:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/?p=9048"},"modified":"2011-03-03T13:12:28","modified_gmt":"2011-03-03T11:12:28","slug":"uk-parliament-call-for-investigation-of-use-of-tax-havens-by-development-bank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2011\/03\/03\/uk-parliament-call-for-investigation-of-use-of-tax-havens-by-development-bank\/","title":{"rendered":"UK Parliament call for investigation of use of tax havens by development bank"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the <a href=\"http:\/\/taxjustice.blogspot.com\/2011\/03\/uk-parliamentary-call-for-investigation.html\">Tax Justice Network report this morning:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>A <a style=\"color: #660000; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.parliament.uk\/business\/committees\/committees-a-z\/commons-select\/international-development-committee\/news\/committee-calls-for-new-fund-for-pro-poor-investment\/\">new report<\/a> issued this morning by the UK government's<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">International Development Committee<\/span> has raised concerns about the manner in which <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">CDC <\/span>- the government-owned development bank formerly known as the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Commonwealth Development Corporation<\/span>- has been routing investments via <a style=\"color: #660000; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/taxjustice.blogspot.com\/2010\/09\/offshore-diving-poverty-quango.html\">tax havens<\/a>, and has called on <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">HM Treasury<\/span> to investigate these practices. The report also calls on CDC to adopt best practice on tax matters.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>There's much more on <a href=\"http:\/\/taxjustice.blogspot.com\/2011\/03\/uk-parliamentary-call-for-investigation.html\">this at TJN. <\/a>But the minister, despite accepting the need for change, has asked the CEO to stay on for  a year to supervise it - so perpetuating the management culture that has created so much abuse in this area.
