{"id":88091,"date":"2025-12-01T07:09:49","date_gmt":"2025-12-01T07:09:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/?p=88091"},"modified":"2025-12-01T07:09:49","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T07:09:49","slug":"rachel-reeves-time-to-go","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2025\/12\/01\/rachel-reeves-time-to-go\/","title":{"rendered":"Rachel Reeves: time to go"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">Throughout the weekend, I kept asking myself whether I should write a blog post about Rachel Reeves misrepresenting the economic background to her Budget, but then I asked myself: why?<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The mainstream media has covered this issue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Nobody now expects Rachel Reeves to tell the truth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The fact that she dissembled (at best) to support her spreadsheet-balancing exercise is not really a surprise to anyone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">And no one expects her to ever have another go at presenting a Budget, because she and Keir Starmer are so obviously now failing leaders of the Labour Party, let alone the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">So, having spent a lot of time over the last few weeks discussing all her many and miserable failings, I have decided that there is no point in documenting in detail yet another of them.
