I commented on <\/a>the prospects for the Irish presidential election yesterday.<\/p>\n

Today, we have a first hint of the outcome:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

You can say the post is largely ceremonial.<\/p>\n

And you can say that it does not matter.<\/p>\n

You could add that this is a left-winger replacing a great left-wing President.<\/p>\n

But you could also say this is another rejection of neoliberalism.<\/p>\n

I would say all four, but if I were to weight my emphasis, it would be on the last.<\/p>\n

Neoliberalism is tottering, and not a day too soon<\/p>\n
