The response was:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Current Stats for Richard J Murphy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/socialblade.com\/youtube\/channel\/UCGlMOIZ1A3zluwLXTGpzZfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Social Blade<\/a> (as of August 8, 2025), Richard\u202fJ\u202fMurphy\u2019s channel has:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>249\u202fK subscribers<\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>~29.3 million total views<\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">Ranks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>335,533rd<\/b><\/span> overall among YouTube channels (SB Rank)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>2,065th<\/b><\/span> by subscriber count in the UK.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>629,810th<\/b><\/span> in the world by views<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>1,431st<\/b><\/span> in the Education category<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>How That Translates to a Percentile<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">To understand the percentile ranking:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">Social Blade tracks <span class=\"s1\"><b>millions<\/b><\/span> of active YouTube channels.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">If Richard J Murphy is ranked <span class=\"s1\"><b>335,533rd<\/b><\/span>, this means he\u2019s ahead of the majority of channels.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p3\">Let\u2019s estimate:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">Suppose there are around <span class=\"s1\"><b>10 million<\/b><\/span> active channels (a conservative estimate).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">Being 335,533rd means the channel is in the <span class=\"s1\"><b>top 3.36%<\/b><\/span> of all YouTube channels by rank.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">If the estimate is <span class=\"s1\"><b>5 million<\/b><\/span> active channels, that pushes the percentile to the <span class=\"s1\"><b>top ~6.7%<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">Even under more conservative assumptions, the channel falls comfortably within at least the <span class=\"s1\"><b>top 10%<\/b><\/span> to <span class=\"s1\"><b>top 5%<\/b><\/span> of all channels.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p3\">So, you can confidently say Richard J Murphy\u2019s channel is within the <span class=\"s3\"><b>top ~3\u20137 percentile<\/b><\/span>, based on his Social Blade rank.<\/p>\n<p>[<em>I should add that I checked: an active channel according to Social Blade appears to mean getting 5,000 regular views on a video, so vast numbers of channels do not count as most never get anywhere near this total. ChatGPT also noted:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>As of <span class=\"s1\"><b>September 2024<\/b><\/span>, approximately <span class=\"s1\"><b>520,478 YouTube channels<\/b><\/span> have reached the 100K subscriber mark and received a <span class=\"s1\"><b>Silver Play Button<\/b><\/span>.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>Considering an estimated <span class=\"s1\"><b>113 million active YouTube channels<\/b><\/span> (2024 data), that translates to <span class=\"s1\"><b>less than 0.4%<\/b><\/span> of all active channels earning the Silver Award.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>We not only have that award: we have 250,000 subscribers, which puts us in a much smaller category of channels, and maybe in the top 0.2% or less of YouTube channels in all, although I prefer the Social Blade ranking.<\/em>]<\/p>\n<p><b>Summary<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Subscribers<\/b><span class=\"s1\">: ~249 K<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Views<\/b><\/span>: ~29.3M<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Overall rank<\/b><span class=\"s1\">: 335,533rd<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Estimated percentile<\/b><span class=\"s1\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">Top <span class=\"s1\"><b>3\u20135%<\/b><\/span> (likely), or<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">Top <span class=\"s1\"><b>~7%<\/b><\/span> at most \u2014 solidly among the higher-performing channels on YouTube.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>I am happy with that.
