{"id":83088,"date":"2025-06-14T09:19:40","date_gmt":"2025-06-14T08:19:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/?p=83088"},"modified":"2025-06-14T09:19:40","modified_gmt":"2025-06-14T08:19:40","slug":"poets-of-the-world-unite","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2025\/06\/14\/poets-of-the-world-unite\/","title":{"rendered":"Poets of the world unite"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>John Harvey is continuing in his role as unofficial poet in residence here <a href=\"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2025\/06\/13\/a-profoundly-hostile-world-where-the-odds-are-stacked-in-favour-of-a-desperate-few\/comment-page-1\/#comment-1025501\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">and offered this yesterday<\/a>:<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Poets of the world unite!<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard not to be angry at the world right now<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard not to be angry with people who<br \/>\nUse violence to make gains<br \/>\nOr use words to put people right down and in chains<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard not to be angry with people who<br \/>\nUse crafty channels to steal<br \/>\nOr use laws to make people kowtow and to kneel<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard not to be angry with people who<br \/>\nUse power over the weak<br \/>\nOr use ruses to abuse and to hurt the meek<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s so hard not to be angry at the world right now<br \/>\nIt\u2019s so very hard not to be angry at the world right now<\/p>\n<p>But, being angry doesn\u2019t really help<br \/>\nBut, being just angry so doesn\u2019t really help<\/p>\n<p>Unless we can use our shared anger to<br \/>\nBring strong peace to the violent<br \/>\nBring deep justice to the lawmakers<br \/>\nBring fierce strength to the abusers<br \/>\nBring love where there is hate<br \/>\nBring hope where there is despair<br \/>\nBring poetry where there is only anger<\/p>\n<p>To bring poetry where there is only anger\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>John Harvey is continuing in his role as unofficial poet in residence here and offered this yesterday: Poets of the world unite!
