I don\u2019t regret doing so. No one seemed to disagree with me. I did so with regard to the plan Labour now seems to have to continue with the two-child benefit cap.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, they tried to outdo themselves. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/education\/2025\/may\/24\/children-with-special-needs-in-england-may-lose-legal-right-to-school-support\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">As the Guardian noted<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">Hundreds of thousands of children with special needs could lose their legal entitlement to extra support in schools in England under plans being considered by ministers, a move that campaigners warn could force thousands more pupils out of mainstream education.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">As they noted:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">The reforms relate to education, health and care plans (EHCPs), statutory documents families have relied on for more than a decade to guarantee their children\u2019s right to support for conditions such as autism spectrum disorder and mental health issues.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Who is going to suffer as a result of this (which Labour deny, but they are not noted for telling the truth)? As the Guardian notes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The reforms relate to education, health and care plans (EHCPs), statutory documents families have relied on for more than a decade to guarantee their children\u2019s right to support for conditions such as autism spectrum disorder and mental health issues.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>These plans tend to address:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Speech, language and communication needs<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Autistic spectrum condition<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>ADHD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Broad learning difficulties <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">Specific learning difficulties <span class=\"s1\">such as:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Dyslexia<\/span> \u2013 difficulty with reading, writing, and spelling.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Dyscalculia<\/span> \u2013 difficulty with understanding numbers and mathematics.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Dyspraxia (DCD)<\/span> \u2013 coordination and motor skills challenges.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The implication is very clear. Labour, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2025\/04\/25\/the-far-right-autism-adhd-send-and-the-need-to-respect-and-celebrate-diversity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">with Badenoch and Reform,<\/a> is obviously now trying to deny three things.<\/p>\n<p>The first is that these conditions exist.<\/p>\n<p>The second is that they need to be addressed.<\/p>\n<p>The third is that it is the responsibility of the state to help address them.<\/p>\n<p>This is total neglect by Labour. This failure will have numerous consequences.<\/p>\n<p>The first is lost opportunity for those who will be denied the chance to realise it.<\/p>\n<p>The second is a massive long-term cost as a result of those prejudiced now by choice having problems later.<\/p>\n<p>The third is significant classroom disruption by those who need help and do not get it, with harm to the education of other children happening as a result.<\/p>\n<p>The fourth is dramatically increased stress for class teachers who will be left without the support they need for children in their classes. This will be at cost to education as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, this decision is total madness. It makes literally no sense at all.<\/p>\n<p>It is as if Labour hate children and most especially children with needs or those in poverty, and is intent on doing everything they can to make life as hard as possible for them and all those who care for them.<\/p>\n<p>My opinion is confirmed.
