{"id":82492,"date":"2025-05-20T07:10:53","date_gmt":"2025-05-20T06:10:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/?p=82492"},"modified":"2025-05-20T07:10:53","modified_gmt":"2025-05-20T06:10:53","slug":"has-netanyahu-pleaded-guilty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2025\/05\/20\/has-netanyahu-pleaded-guilty\/","title":{"rendered":"Has Netanyahu pleaded guilty?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/8f1f3372-ecfc-46ed-9003-14b240613388?segmentId=3f81fe28-ba5d-8a93-616e-4859191fabd8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FT reported<\/a> yesterday:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel planned to take over all of Gaza as the country escalated its offensive in the war-torn enclave, pounding the strip with air strikes and issuing an evacuation order for one of its largest cities.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The FT added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The expanded military operations came as Israel began re-allowing limited quantities of aid into Gaza, which the Israeli premier said was necessary to maintain international legitimacy.<\/p>\n<p>He acknowledged for the first time that Gazans were on the brink of starvation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In his defence, it is reported he said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe\u2019re quickly getting close to the red line [of starvation], to a situation where we can lose control and then everything crumbles,\u201d said Netanyahu on Monday, adding that international pressure \u2014 including from the US \u2014 had forced the country to ease its blockade.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I think that should be taken as a plea of guilty to war crime charges.
