In a world where any reasonable person is confused, Trump continues to behave with reckless abandon, showing complete contempt whilst doing so for just about anyone but his immediate coterie of supporters.<\/p>\n
A New York Times email has this morning reported that:<\/p>\n
President Trump proposed yesterday that the U.S. take over Gaza, and that all Palestinians there \u2014 about two million people \u2014 should leave, describing a permanent relocation to one or more sites funded by \u201ccountries of interest with humanitarian hearts.\u201c<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Trump has already made it clear he wants to take possession of Canada, Greenland and the Panama Canal, already threatening force in some cases.<\/p>\n
Now, he is threatening to expel Palestinians from Gaza. It cannot be a coincidence that there have been rumours of US plans, linked to Trump, to redevelop Gaza as a tourist resort for some time. He suggested during his press conference that the US would build \u201cthe Riviera of the Middle East\u201d in Gaza.<\/p>\n
That he has no right to tell Palestinians to leave their home does not seem to have occurred to Trump.<\/p>\n
That this is a violation of a state by the USA seems to be a matter of indifference to him.<\/p>\n
The fact that no country has agreed to offer a new home to Palestinians is a mere detail to him - why does he care about creating permanent refugee groups?<\/p>\n
It appears inevitable that this will eventually lead to a similar suggestion for the West Bank, which is similarly internationally unacceptable.<\/p>\n
The question is, where, when, how and with what cost will this madness (for that is what it is) end? And, as importantly, how will that happen without lives being lost? History recounts that megalomaniacs who have gained power rarely give it up easily. I am increasingly worried that Trump will not.<\/p>\n
I worry for the countries Trump is threatening directly.<\/p>\n
I worry about all those he is indirectly threatening.<\/p>\n
I worry for the people of the USA.<\/p>\n
I fear the price we will pay for this.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
