Three reasons.<\/p>\n<p>First, as these institutions crumble, a power vacuum is created.<\/p>\n<p>Second, we know vacuums are unstable.<\/p>\n<p>Third, new power structures will arise in place of those that are failing as a consequence.<\/p>\n<p>Are the obvious failings of royalty and bishops just a necessary part of the rise to power of the oligarchy, or <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kakistocracy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kakistocracy<\/a> as The Economist recently described those grabbing power right now?<\/p>\n<p>Don't rule it out, I suggest.
