{"id":77263,"date":"2024-08-16T08:17:31","date_gmt":"2024-08-16T07:17:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/?p=77263"},"modified":"2024-08-16T13:43:16","modified_gmt":"2024-08-16T12:43:16","slug":"your-opinion-is-sought-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2024\/08\/16\/your-opinion-is-sought-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Your opinion is sought"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I know that quite a lot of my social media attention this year has been on YouTube (where the video on Rachel Reeves, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2024\/08\/15\/rachel-reeves-is-already-making-a-mess-of-her-chancellorship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published yesterday<\/a>, got more than 25,000 views in its first twenty-four hours, which is more than the reads here in the whole day), but this blog is not being ignored.<\/p>\n<p>I had an idea that AI must now make it easy for summaries of blog posts to be generated by ChatGPT (or something like it) to then be inserted here to assist those with little time, and to persuade those who were not sure whether they wished to commit to reading an article that it might be worth their while to do so. The summaries could also, I imagined, be posted as 'mini-posts' on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>Andy Moyle and I got on the task, and the technology sort of exists, but we have not found anything reliable that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Produces accurate summaries<\/li>\n<li>Allows those summaries to be edited<\/li>\n<li>Is reasonably priced<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Before spending more time on this, let me be clear that my aim is to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make clear the summaries are distinct from the rest of the text. A box would be good for this purpose.<\/li>\n<li>Be useful and not misleading.<\/li>\n<li>Apply the summary when. required: some posts do not require one.<\/li>\n<li>Boost engagement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I have done a couple of summaries this morning in the two blogs I have published so far today, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2024\/08\/16\/large-company-accounts-are-works-of-fiction-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2024\/08\/16\/educational-achievement-reveals-deep-seated-inequality-in-the-uk-what-can-be-done-about-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>. The first was almost wholly ChatGPT generated in 50 words. The second required 70 words to be useful and had to be edited.<\/p>\n<p>If anyone knows of something of the sort required, please let me know.
