{"id":7011,"date":"2010-05-30T18:28:43","date_gmt":"2010-05-30T16:28:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/?p=7011"},"modified":"2010-05-30T18:56:13","modified_gmt":"2010-05-30T16:56:13","slug":"not-beyond-the-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2010\/05\/30\/not-beyond-the-law\/","title":{"rendered":"Not beyond the Law"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/politics\/2010\/may\/30\/david-laws-resignation-conservatives-reaction\"> David Laws will bounce back from resignation, say senior Conservatives | Politics | guardian.co.uk <\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If there's anyone mourning the end of one of the shortest cabinet careers ever I think they need to seek professional help.<\/p>\n<p>David Laws fulfilled all my expectations of the Orange Book Liberals: cold, ruthless, uncaring willingness to inflict harm on the ordinary people of this country in pursuit of a bankrupt mantra based on economic ineptitude: extreme in the nineteenth century; unpalatable beyond imagination  now.<\/p>\n<p>Worse than that, the excuse offered for his deception is clear evidence of a cold, calculated and deliberate abuse based on fine reading of the rules and the use of the mindset of the tax avoider: that the spirit of the law may be legitimately abused.<\/p>\n<p>I am delighted this man has been exposed for such abuse.<\/p>\n<p>May any others who have done the same follow in his path.<\/p>\n<p>This mentality needs to be consigned to history - and this government with it.<\/p>\n<p>His excuses reveal he must have known what his doing, and it is inconceivable that a man of his training did not: he deserves the certain destruction of his career that will follow.<\/p>\n<p>This government knows the  harm it plans to unleash on this country: they deserve the same fate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>David Laws will bounce back from resignation, say senior Conservatives | Politics | guardian.co.uk .
