{"id":60458,"date":"2021-12-01T08:12:04","date_gmt":"2021-12-01T08:12:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/?p=60458"},"modified":"2021-12-01T08:12:29","modified_gmt":"2021-12-01T08:12:29","slug":"boris-johnson-is-officially-a-liar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2021\/12\/01\/boris-johnson-is-officially-a-liar\/","title":{"rendered":"Boris Johnson is officially a liar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the first time in decades yesterday the Speaker of the House of Commons permitted one member to describe another as a liar without the claim being corrected or a demand for it to be withdrawn being made.<\/p>\n<p>Ian Blackford, leader of the SNP in the Commons, made the suggestion in a speech when introducing a debate on breaches of the sixth commandment of public life as established by the Nolan principles, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/the-7-principles-of-public-life\/the-7-principles-of-public-life--2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">published in 1995<\/a>.
