In the first three videos in this series on tax havens I explored why tax havens should really be called secrecy jurisdictions<\/a>, what tax havens are used<\/span> for now<\/span><\/a> and how they try to undermine the regulation of other states<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In this video I move on to ask why tax havens are so harmful<\/span>?<\/span> Drawing on economic theory and the simple ethics of fairness that every child understands I argue that tax havens are intended to undermine fair <\/span>markets, and<\/span> do. As a result, for from being the bastions of free enterprise that they claim to be tax havens are <\/span>actually places<\/span> that seek to undermine the <\/span>entire <\/span>market system.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the way to achieving that goal I argue that they <\/span>also <\/span>undermine two other <\/span>thing<\/span> as well. One <\/span>i<\/span>s the rule of law, and the other is democracy.<\/span><\/p>\n

In that case tax havens exist to create a form of <\/span>oppression<\/span> where a few can <\/span>economically <\/span>abuse most people<\/span> through the use of<\/span> offshore corporations<\/span>. <\/span>That is, of course, one description of fascism.<\/span><\/p>\n
