I recommend watching this edition of Panorama<\/a>, broadcast last night.<\/p>\n

It looks at those abusing UK bankruptcy law.<\/p>\n

It notes how easy it is for fraudsters to form companies - even from within prison.<\/p>\n

And it notes the lameness of the government's excuse. I quote the concluding comments of the programme<\/p>\n

\u00a0My investigation has revealed a bankruptcy system fraught with problems.\u00a0 A lack of resources; regulation, a\u00a0 lack of monitoring\u00a0 and robust punitive measures.<\/p>\n

The government is quick to say that business is key to a healthy economy<\/p>\n

But allowing the unscrupulous to flourish puts that at risk.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I noted in another post this morning<\/a>:<\/p>\n

The UK government really is intent on promoting opportunity for money launderers and those committing related crimes, such as tax evasion.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I asked:<\/p>\n

Why is that?<\/p>\n

What is it that the government thinks to be to the advantage of the UK when doing so?<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a\u00a0question in need of an answer.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The very same questions could be asked as a consequence of the conclusions drawn by the Panorama programme.<\/p>\n
