The debate was on whether or not the government should do impact assessments (cost estimates) on various aspects of Brexit:<\/p>\n<p><em><a class=\"nohighlight\" title=\"View member's contributions\" href=\"https:\/\/hansard.parliament.uk\/search\/MemberContributions?house=Commons&amp;memberId=4432\">Patrick Grady<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>My hon. Friend is absolutely right. An impact assessment, by definition, is more than simply something printed on the side of a bus.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><a class=\"nohighlight\" title=\"View member's contributions\" href=\"https:\/\/hansard.parliament.uk\/search\/MemberContributions?house=Commons&amp;memberId=1546\">Mr MacNeil<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The argument put forward by the hon. Lady from England somewhere\u2013the hon. Member for Mid Bedfordshire (Nadine Dorries)\u2013is quite strange. It is akin to the person who says, \u201cGiven the cost of buying a map, isn\u2019t it far better that we stumble around in the dark?\u201d That is the argument against impact assessments: do not buy a map, stumble in the dark.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><a class=\"nohighlight\" title=\"View member's contributions\" href=\"https:\/\/hansard.parliament.uk\/search\/MemberContributions?house=Commons&amp;memberId=4432\">Patrick Grady<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"inner\">\n<div class=\"contribution col-md-9\">\n<p class=\"hs_Para\"><em>Exactly.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"hs_Para\">They are sentiments most with any common or financial sense would share.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I rather enjoyed this exchange between two SNP MPs in the House of Commons last night after an intervention by Tory MP Nadine Dorries.
