Even yesterday Philip Hammond took a swipe at Labour for using my tax gap figures rather than those of HMRC.<\/p>\n<p>It was an own goal. That is because <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/561312\/HMRC-measuring-tax-gaps-2016.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">HMRC say<\/a> total UK tax avoidance is just \u00a32.2 billion a year. But yesterday the OBR published data on the cost to the UK Exchequer of small business, which they admit saves them tax.
