The growth was fuelled by a strong increase in customer traffic, suggesting that the ubiquitous brand is increasingly capturing the world's caffeine cravings. (NYT)<\/p>\n<p><b>A moment in retail<\/b> Amazon <a title=\"Amazon overtakes Walmart in market value after unexpected profit - FT.com\" href=\"http:\/\/click.email.ft.com\/?qs=f3082f2d04a373861c668760e2770975799d1741d6e815280d523a4a97e6155ed206e496b391e2de\" target=\"_blank\">eclipsed Walmart<\/a> to become the largest US retailer by market capitalisation after posting an unexpected quarterly profit and revenues that easily surpassed Wall Street expectations. The Seattle-based online retail pioneer was valued as high as $267bn after a 19 per cent share price surge in after-hours trading.
