She apparently said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This is an important symbolic statement but it is really on the margins \u2026 what you really need is international agreement and a really, really tough, determined HMRC.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I agree. Indeed, t<a title=\"The Google Tax \u2014 more thoughts\" href=\"http:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2014\/12\/10\/the-google-tax-more-thoughts\/\" target=\"_blank\">hat's remarkably similar to my own reaction<\/a>, and I did not brief her. But, Margaret has one of the astutest brains for the politics of tax, and her reaction is spot on.
