{"id":26375,"date":"2014-10-14T07:40:57","date_gmt":"2014-10-14T06:40:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/?p=26375"},"modified":"2014-10-14T07:40:57","modified_gmt":"2014-10-14T06:40:57","slug":"the-race-to-the-bottom-is-off","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2014\/10\/14\/the-race-to-the-bottom-is-off\/","title":{"rendered":"The race to the bottom is off"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/cms\/s\/0\/dde4661e-52ee-11e4-9221-00144feab7de.html?ftcamp=crm\/email\/20141014\/nbe\/UKMorningHeadlines\/product&amp;siteedition=uk#axzz3G5xwoI2k\" target=\"_blank\">was pleased to note from the FT this morning<\/a> that in debate on devolution of tax powers to Scotland \"all three parties agree that corporation tax should not be devolved to avoid a \u201crace to the bottom\u201d and other tax distortions.\"<\/p>\n<p>This is not \u00a0change of my view on whether or not Scotland should have been independent.
