{"id":23644,"date":"2014-01-06T11:35:55","date_gmt":"2014-01-06T11:35:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/?p=23644"},"modified":"2014-01-06T11:35:55","modified_gmt":"2014-01-06T11:35:55","slug":"does-george-osborne-have-a-clue-what-a-plan-is","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2014\/01\/06\/does-george-osborne-have-a-clue-what-a-plan-is\/","title":{"rendered":"Does George Osborne have a clue what a plan is?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/chancellor-lets-finish-the-job\" target=\"_blank\">According to the Treasury this morning<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[George Osborne] set out the five components of his long-term economic plan to build a stronger, more competitive, economy to secure a better future for hard-working families and future generations by:<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<blockquote><p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00aacutting the deficit<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<blockquote><p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00aareducing taxes for hardworking people<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<blockquote><p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00aacreating more jobs by backing business<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<blockquote><p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00aacapping immigration and welfare<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<blockquote><p>\u00e2\u20ac\u00aadelivering the best schools and skills<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>He calls that a plan?<\/p>\n<p>A plan says:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 13px;\">how we cut the deficit<\/span><\/li>\n<li>how tax cuts are funded, and who hardworking people are (and are not)<\/li>\n<li>what backing business means and how it delivers new jobs<\/li>\n<li>what the economic consequences of cutting immigration and social security are<\/li>\n<li>how schools and skills will be delivered and at what cost<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But there is none of that - I read the speech to check.
