{"id":23072,"date":"2013-11-12T11:48:01","date_gmt":"2013-11-12T11:48:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/?p=23072"},"modified":"2013-11-12T11:49:21","modified_gmt":"2013-11-12T11:49:21","slug":"ernst-young-object-to-my-tweeting-this-morning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2013\/11\/12\/ernst-young-object-to-my-tweeting-this-morning\/","title":{"rendered":"Ernst &#038; Young object to my tweeting this morning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> As <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tpweek.com\/Mobile\/Mobile_Article.aspx?ArticleId=3277785\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\">Transfer Pricing Weekly have reported this morning<\/a>, Ernst & Young objected to my live tweeting from the OECD earlier today.<\/p>\n<p>I was commenting on a session on country-by-country reporting during which I had already spoken when EY raised their objection. <\/p>\n<p> No doubt EY did not like my references to them - <a href=\"http:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2013\/05\/09\/why-are-ernst-young-wilfully-misrepresenting-country-by-country-reporting-could-it-be-theyre-frightened-of-the-ngo-demands\/\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\">but given that they do have a public position opposing country-by-country reporting<\/a> I think my comments were entirely fair. <\/p>\n<p>What this really shows is the paranoia pervading big business and their advisers about the need for secrecy - something I oppose. What it also shows is that they are frightened of the consequences of the civil society demand for accountability -  but seeking to silence it is not the way forward. And nor will we be silenced.
