{"id":22695,"date":"2013-10-12T09:46:57","date_gmt":"2013-10-12T08:46:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/?p=22695"},"modified":"2013-10-12T09:46:57","modified_gmt":"2013-10-12T08:46:57","slug":"campaigning-against-tax-havens-has-worked-but-we-still-have-a-way-to-go","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2013\/10\/12\/campaigning-against-tax-havens-has-worked-but-we-still-have-a-way-to-go\/","title":{"rendered":"Campaigning against tax havens has worked, but we still have a way to go"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In November 2011 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.internationaltaxreview.com\/Article\/3121964\/EXCLUSIVE-UK-to-impose-son-of-FATCA-on-Crown-Dependencies-despite-governments-denials.html\" target=\"_blank\">I worked with International Tax Review <\/a>to leak that the UK's\u00a0Crown Dependencies were going to sign what have been called 'son of FATCA'\u00a0automatic information exchange agreements.<\/p>\n<p>Now the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/business\/2013\/oct\/11\/treasury-signs-agreement-isle-of-man-tax-evasion\" target=\"_blank\">Isle of Man has signed up<\/a>, taking a lead as is their practice (which I have to acknowledge).<\/p>\n<p>These deals are not perfect. But they're a major step forward.<\/p>\n<p>Campaigning against tax havens has worked. But let's be clear, we still have a long way to go.
