Second edition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-GOenYszy8Dg\/UQutR2nwDjI\/AAAAAAAAD7Q\/EYJs60gtEB4\/s1600\/tuiyc.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"684\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To celebrate the Tax Justice Network's\u00a0tenth anniversary next month, it's published a second edition of its very first publication,\u00a0<strong><em>tax us if you can<\/em><\/strong>, which you can download in PDF format\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.taxjustice.net\/cms\/upload\/pdf\/TUIYC_2012_FINAL.pdf\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Tax us if you can<\/em>\u00a0provides an introduction to TJN's core themes.\u00a0 Starting with an overview of the concept of tax and tax justice, it goes on to explore the root causes of tax injustice, identifies the key players who benefit from tax injustice and the agencies that aim to address these issue, and introduces some of the key policy solutions we advocate for.\u00a0<em>Tax us if you can<\/em>\u00a0also includes an invaluable glossary which runs to over 20 pages.<\/p>\n<p>Much has changed since TJN published the first edition in 2005.\u00a0 The financial crisis has exposed the structural weaknesses of public finances across the world, ushering in austerity programmes that are rapidly widening existing inequalities.\u00a0 Tax competition pressures are building up, accelerating the race<strong>-<\/strong>to<strong>-<\/strong>the<strong>-<\/strong>bottom on corporate tax payments.\u00a0 Wealth continues to concentrate in the hands of a tiny minority who hold their wealth offshore in tax havens.\u00a0 It is hard to avoid the conclusion that the situation is deteriorating, but\u00a0<em>tax us if you can<\/em>\u00a0provides rays of hope, not least since politicians are reacting to our demands for change, and TJN offer<strong>s<\/strong>\u00a0coherent solutions to many of the problems posed by tax havens and tax competition.<\/p>\n<p>Co-authored by Richard Murphy and John Christensen this second edition includes Jim Henry's estimates of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.taxjustice.net\/cms\/upload\/pdf\/Price_of_Offshore_Revisited_120722.pdf\"><strong><em>The Price of Offshore Revisited<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and lists tax havens\/secrecy jurisdictions that fail to achieve an opacity score of 60 or under.\u00a0 It also provides updated commentaries on recent initiatives by the OECD, the European Union and the United Nations.<\/p>\n<p>This edition of\u00a0<em>tax us if you can<\/em>\u00a0is published electronically in<a href=\"http:\/\/www.taxjustice.net\/cms\/upload\/pdf\/TUIYC_2012_FINAL.pdf\">\u00a0<strong>PDF format<\/strong><\/a><strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0and TJN has also ordered a print run of 5,000 hard copy editions.\u00a0 If you would like to order copies of the printed edition please contact TJN by email at info@taxjustice.net, putting 'tax us if you can' in the email subject line.<\/p>\n<div><span style=\"color: #333333;
