Doesn't he\u00a0realise\u00a0he's just done it?<\/p>\n<p>But what's really\u00a0amusing\u00a0is that this is all happening ahead of tomorrow's debate in the Commons on tax avoidance lead by\u00a0Michael\u00a0Meacher, <a title=\"Available this Friday \u2014 a genuine General Anti-Tax Avoidance Principle for the UK\" href=\"http:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2012\/09\/10\/available-this-friday-a-genuine-general-anti-tax-avoidance-principle-for-the-uk\/\">the sponsor of the\u00a0General\u00a0Anti-Tax Avoidance Principle Bill<\/a> that is being\u00a0presented\u00a0to the House on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The PA continued:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Chancellor said the \u00a3500 million boost was the result of a \"better than expected performance\" by the high net worth individuals unit<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That's over time: not in a year. And when avoidance is in HMRC's estimate up to \u00a35 million a year and in mine up to \u00a325 billion a year you can see why all the bluster the\u00a0government\u00a0makes amounts to very little.
