{"id":16884,"date":"2012-08-13T09:32:10","date_gmt":"2012-08-13T08:32:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/?p=16884"},"modified":"2012-08-13T09:32:10","modified_gmt":"2012-08-13T08:32:10","slug":"privatisation-is-going-out-of-fashion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2012\/08\/13\/privatisation-is-going-out-of-fashion\/","title":{"rendered":"Privatisation is going out of fashion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/cms\/s\/0\/a3026ad2-e2d9-11e1-a463-00144feab49a.html#ixzz23PXbVgnu\" target=\"_blank\">FT reports this morning:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The\u00a0pace of privatisation\u00a0around the world has slowed sharply, with an unprecedented number of asset sales delayed or cancelled amid volatile markets and political uncertainty.<\/p>\n<p>Despite governments across the globe continuing to hoist for-sale signs over state-owned enterprises ranging from airports to electricity networks, the number of completed deals last year was less than half the 2010 figure, according to the Privatisation Barometer, a joint project between KPMG and Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei, a Milan-based research institute.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div>First of all, let's celebrate that fact.
