{"id":14917,"date":"2012-04-03T18:08:59","date_gmt":"2012-04-03T17:08:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/?p=14917"},"modified":"2012-04-03T18:08:59","modified_gmt":"2012-04-03T17:08:59","slug":"go-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2012\/04\/03\/go-india\/","title":{"rendered":"Go India!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It's\u00a0fascinating\u00a0and welcome that India is refusing to take tax lying down now.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"George Osborne has the temerity to argue in favour of Vodafone\u2019s tax abuse in India \u2014 and loses\" href=\"http:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2012\/04\/03\/george-osborne-has-the-temerity-to-argue-in-favour-of-vodafones-tax-abuse-in-india-and-loses\/\">I've just noted <\/a>their aggressive, and I think appropriate, response to Vodafone's tax abuse, which they are tackling with retrospective\u00a0legislation. This is a country that will no longer tolerate tax abuse via tax havens - and good for them.<\/p>\n<p>Then there's their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2012\/03\/28\/india-and-its-general-anti-avoidance-rule\/\" target=\"_blank\">new\u00a0general anti-avoidance rule<\/a> - which is far more comprehensive than the UK dare\u00a0deliver. This is massively\u00a0unpopular\u00a0with the tax abusing class in India - which just goes to prove how much it is needed. <a href=\"http:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/business\/india-business\/GAAR-spooks-fear-in-the-stock-market\/articleshow\/12466173.cms\" target=\"_blank\">Again India is saying you may come and do business here - but the price is paying tax<\/a>.
