I recommend it.<\/p>\n<p>I'm\u00a0pleased\u00a0to note that it says:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Governments once turned a blind eye to their wealthy citizens\u2019 offshore tax acrobatics. Now they are strapped for cash and hungrily hunt every penny in tax revenue. So a cold war on banking secrecy is turning hot. Tax evasion costs governments $3.1 trillion annually, according to Tax Justice Network, a lobby group. America, Britain and Germany have sought deals with Switzerland, Liechtenstein and other havens; the European Union is tightening up. Emerging powers like India are waging their own campaigns, too.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is continuing endorsement of the role\u00a0Tax Justice Network (and in this case, I, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tackletaxhavens.com\/Cost_of_Tax_Abuse_TJN_Research_23rd_Nov_2011.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">as researcher of this dat<\/a>a) have in keeping this issue firmly on the international agenda. We're not going away until we win.<\/p>\n<p>And win we will for the reason the Economist notes: this is now a battle about tax revenues to pay for essential\u00a0services\u00a0and\u00a0governments\u00a0are going to win that battle. Switzerland and its fellow\u00a0abusers\u00a0are on notice to\u00a0find\u00a0something else to do: the days of tax havens are numbered.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>That&#8217;s the title of an article in the Economist today.
