And that we&#8217;ve refused to do, to date"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/commentisfree\/2012\/jan\/29\/will-hutton-economic-global-cooperation\" target=\"_blank\">Will Hutton argued in the Observer yesterday<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Globalisation can work, but only with a unified international plan.<\/p>\n<p id=\"stand-first\">We desperately needs economic and social institutions working across national borders.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Nowhere is this more true than tax.<\/p>\n<p>We need an international tax organisation.<\/p>\n<p>We need\u00a0automatic information exchange by default unless there are cases of proven human rights abuses as a result.<\/p>\n<p>We need unitary apportionment formula taxation for\u00a0multinational corporations. We need\u00a0country-by-country reporting to help that happen.<\/p>\n<p>We need to tackle tax havens.<\/p>\n<p>We can do all that. And it would benefit humanity\u00a0enormously. It would also make globalisation work. But right now it doesn't, in no small part\u00a0because\u00a0we don't have those things.<\/p>\n<p>The time for change is coming, very soon.
