I concluded\u00a0it sat \"uncomfortably with my view of Labour\".<\/p>\n<p>Now I note one of its principle editors <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.co.uk\/2012\/01\/16\/luke-bozier-former-labour-adviser-defects_n_1208277.html\" target=\"_blank\">has defected to the Tories<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Why doesn't that\u00a0surprise\u00a0me?<\/p>\n<p>Maybe a few others would like to follow. They're welcome to them. \u00a0And such defections always help clear the decks for reform, which Labour still needs. The presence of such\u00a0carpet-baggers who seemed to be present in New Labour more for what was in it for them than from any sense of conviction about social democratic causes was\u00a0always\u00a0going to hinder that reform\u00a0process so for once I agree with Louise Mensch; she really can have as many of them as she wants if it lets Labour be the party it really needs to be.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I wrote a brief\u00a0review\u00a0of the dismal report &#8216;Labour&#8217;s Business&#8217; published in November 2011 here.
