There's a sickening dimension to today's agreement between the UK and Switzerland<\/a> that is getting to let thousands of wealthy tax criminals off the hook - without them ever being held to account or even having to admit to their crimes.<\/p>\n

At the moment\u00a0the\u00a0UK\u00a0government is turning this deliberate blind eye to massive,\u00a0large\u00a0scale, organised looting of the UK's tax\u00a0system\u00a0it is also bringing criminal charges\u00a0against\u00a0more than\u00a0thirty young people who recently took part in a in a wholly peaceful UK Uncut demonstration\u00a0 against tax avoidance.<\/p>\n

They are facing \u00a0criminal charges in the UK for having leaflets condemning tax avoiders when at exactly the same time the government was negotiating a deal to make sure that tax criminals were let off without ever facing the consequences of their crime.<\/p>\n

This is a sickening indictment of the UK criminal justice\u00a0system, our respect for free\u00a0speech, the values of this\u00a0government\u00a0and the fact that we live in a society where it is now a crime to criticise the criminality that did and does pervade much of the\u00a0financial\u00a0services sector that deliberately promotes tax havens to facilitate crime of the sort which those using Switzerland have just been\u00a0excused\u00a0of.<\/p>\n

No wonder people are angry.<\/p>\n

They have every right to be.<\/p>\n

We are being led by moral cowards who\u00a0excuse\u00a0crime\u00a0whilst\u00a0prosecuting those who exercise the supposed human right of free speech to criticise those\u00a0facilitating\u00a0it.<\/p>\n

It's\u00a0Cameroon\u00a0and Osborne who should be in the dock, not the Fortnum and Mason's\u00a0protesters\u00a0from UK Uncut.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
