{"id":11185,"date":"2011-07-21T08:08:48","date_gmt":"2011-07-21T07:08:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/?p=11185"},"modified":"2011-07-21T08:08:48","modified_gmt":"2011-07-21T07:08:48","slug":"channel-islands-vat-abuse-continues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2011\/07\/21\/channel-islands-vat-abuse-continues\/","title":{"rendered":"Channel Islands&#8217; VAT abuse continues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.channelonline.tv\/channelonline_guernseynews\/DisplayArticle.asp?ID=495377\" target=\"_blank\">Channel\u00a0Online TV:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Online greeting card company Funkypigeon could soon become the latest fulfilment business to set up in Guernsey.<\/p>\n<p>The business is recruiting on the island, but they will not yet discuss why they want to make the move over the Channel.<\/p>\n<p>One reason could be that rules on Low Value Consignment Relief or LVCR mean their goods would be exempt from VAT, but that is not something the States encourage.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Three things are clear:<\/p>\n<p>a) Osborne's announcements clearly aren't having an impact.<\/p>\n<p>b) The 'not encouraging' stance of the States is toothless.<\/p>\n<p>c) Radical action to\u00a0stop this abuse is now needed.<\/p>\n<p>Will Osborne deliver?
