{"id":11013,"date":"2011-07-13T08:16:08","date_gmt":"2011-07-13T07:16:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/?p=11013"},"modified":"2011-07-12T21:18:29","modified_gmt":"2011-07-12T20:18:29","slug":"stephen-timms-mp-one-of-the-unsung-heroes-of-country-by-country-reporting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taxresearch.org.uk\/Blog\/2011\/07\/13\/stephen-timms-mp-one-of-the-unsung-heroes-of-country-by-country-reporting\/","title":{"rendered":"Stephen Timms MP &#8211; one of the unsung heroes of country-by-country reporting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was good to see Stephen Timms MP in the House of Commons last evening at the launch of the PCS tax haven report.<\/p>\n<p>Stephen had a question to ask on\u00a0country-by-country reporting and its progress - and it gave me an\u00a0opportunity\u00a0to say publicly how grateful I was for the support Stephen had given to\u00a0country-by-country reporting whilst he held office in the last government.<\/p>\n<p>Without his support the OECD would not have taken this issue on.<\/p>\n<p>Without his support the political realisation that the\u00a0International Accounting Standards Board are intent on blocking the demands of society for\u00a0corporate\u00a0accountability would have taken longer to be\u00a0understood\u00a0by\u00a0politicians\u00a0throughout Europe.<\/p>\n<p>He did a great job for\u00a0country-by-country reporting and I'm delighted to acknowledge it.<\/p>\n<p>It was also good to see hgim looking so well. Stepehn was, after all, the MP that a constituent tried to murder by stabbing him in the stomach about a year ago.
