The Tories have axed it for all practical purposes.<\/p>\n<p>Alliance Boots announced their\u00a0f<a href=\"http:\/\/www.allianceboots.com\/App_Portals\/AllianceBoots\/Media\/Financial%20Information\/AllianceBootsPreliminaryResultsPressRelease2011.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">inancial\u00a0results today<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They made pre-tax profit of \u00a3944 million.<\/p>\n<p>But the government gave them a \u00a375 million tax credit by cutting their tax rate. No strings attached. No\u00a0benefit\u00a0to the UK to be\u00a0offered\u00a0in return. No jobs to be created. They were just one of hundreds, maybe thousands of large companies to\u00a0benefit\u00a0in this way.<\/p>\n<p>So we can afford to give \u00a375 million to Boots, a Swiss controlled private equity operation - which will go straight to its wealthy investors.
