I have a heavy schedule today, including leaving for meetings quite soon.
Content is limited today as a result, and moderation might be slow.
Please accept my apologies.

Appreciate the warning (and hope you busy day goes well), and not expecting you to act on this until you have time, but you will REALLY enjoy Lawrence O’Donnell’s run through and analysis of yesterday in the life of Trump and Musk. https://www.msnbc.com/the-last-word/watch/lawrence-musk-vs-trump-trump-s-silence-on-musk-s-budget-bills-attacks-proves-who-s-afraid-of-whom-240934469724
To add to that, Chris Hayes has this feature, in which him and Alex Wagner take on the roles of Trump and Musk. Superb stuff! (the clip is ‘Live action replay…’).https://www.msnbc.com/all
As O’Donnell says, where we go from here is anyone’s guess but I think we can safely say that Trumps Presidency is a joke from here on in – if it wasn’t before. As Alex Wagner notes at the very end of the Chris Hayes clip, ‘Is this the show that everyone wanted when they voted for Trump? Really!!!’
Of course it’s not. And to think what shame those who voted for Trump have now visited on that country, not to mention the pain and suffering of those who lost the aid from USAID, or all those suffering from the destruction of perfectly legitimate government activities in the US.
Over the past six months the US has become a joke and the laughing stock of the world and yet Trump and his acolytes just couldn’t stop digging – and so the hole just got deeper and deeper, and darker and darker. And inevitably they’re now utterly blind and lost. And, sadly, the whole world will suffer accordingly.
Thanks
@Richard
Waiting on your analysis of the Scottish By-Election results.
Still bogged down today.
I admit surprise.
Note at Labour, who stood still, but that the SNP rebellion went to Reform.
That did surprise me, a lot.
Which is why we are all waiting on your analysis of the Scottish By-Election results. But as you are out saving democracy and social services, we will cut you all the slack you need! LOL! LOL!
I (and others) can keep ourselves occupied and/or entertained with the Michael Wolf podcast(s) commentary on the Trump-Musk WWW Smackdown Challenge match.
🙂
It has been an interesting week, with a lot of tax stuff going on, all over the place (geographically). I am going to be busy.
@ Richard,
I think its simply that the SNP didn’t get their support out; the Tory vote, such as it was, collapsed completely and Labour had a local candidate. I don’t think there’s been a direct swing from SNP to Reform. The SNP have more likely lost votes to Labour and Labour have lost votes to Reform. Reform took all, or the lion’s share of the Tory votes, by the look of it.
The area has a lot in common with England’s Red Wall. The constituency has settlements that were built for industries, coal and steel (at nearby Motherwell) that no longer exist. One of the towns named in the constituency title is Larkhall; which has a reputation as the most pro royal, pro loyal sectarian town in Scotland. I’d only be half joking if I suggested that if the DUP put up a candidate, they would win in Larkhall and the surrounding area. Fertile ground for Reform and Fauxrage, I’m sorry to say.
I’d recommend you don’t overanalyse the result. It isn’t a massive shock, or even a minor one, to anyone from central Scotland. What I’ve seen of the UK mainstream media’s interpretation will not help you; they’re hopelessly ill-informed.
Noted
It was a by-election. Scottish Labour threw EVERYTHING the had at it, some households reported 4 canvassing visits.
That isn’t possible at a GE.
OTOH SNP could have thrown everything at it and clearly didn’t.
The turnout was reasonable (for a by-election) and better than recent English ones.
7,000 people voted for an English fascist hypocrite.
It was a by-election. Pundits will pundit, politicians will all claim to have won, and we haven’t really learned anything about making the world a better place.
Fa***e is still a foolish fascist who thinks Musk’s “DOGE” idea is just what local councils need, and when he’s found a “details and strategy” man to run it (now that Reform Chair Zia Yusuf has departed) then Kent County Council will be right on to it – if they can agree on a date…
Uk politicians who have actvely allied with and campaigned for Trump the Foolish Fascist, must not be allowed to walk away from their complete identification with him.
We have our own very foolish Fa(**e fascist, we need to make sure he is identified with Trump, the Republicans and their dangerous policies. I see Tice (the next one to fall out with the company owner and alpha male), is still talking about the Reform “Doge” policy, threatened for Kent County Council.
Watch KCC, it seems to be unravelling, with many diary dates for June meetings not settled yet. It’s a big and important council, currently in the hands of numpties. We wouldn’t want that to go unnoticed.

Well worth watching.
