GB News regularly invite me to appear on their programmes. I have always refused. I always tell those who ask that I do not do fascist television.
It seems Starmer has no such qualms. This was on Twitter, about his (ill-fated) visit to Albania:
Why did he only take GB News? What the heck was that about?

He was advised to by Iago (aka McSweeney). Remember, Sir Keir does nothing unless instructed to.
In other news, I see the passel of traitors in Downing Street have allowed a dictatorship to take a 15% stake in “The Daily Telegraph”. One supposes this is a 1st step in getting complete control. Doubtless Torygraph journos will be taught the right type of bowing and scarping.

Maybe we are supposed to think the ferry was full of deported asylum seekers and refugees, being offloaded from UK for warehousing in Albania?
I think Leni Riefenstahl would have had a lower camera angle to show the Dear Agile Leader’s heroic visage against the ethereal blue sky (rather than the ferry) and maybe a UV filter to darken the blue sky a bit?
I just left Tirana 2 days before Starmer arrived, presumably by plane? Why have a photo opportunity by a ferry?
On our walking tour of the city we were never near a port….. What was all this about?
Your guess is as good as mine….
Thick and idiotic are the words that first spring to mind!
He should have taken someone from Sky News – at least they make the effort to be relatively impartial, unlike the BBC. And they have some excellent reports on things other than politics too – I’m thinking of stuff like Ed Conway did on aluminium and tungsten.
I’ve never read the Telegraph, though my Dad did (rolls eyes). I’m currently finding The New York Times my best read of the day – apart from this site of course! 🙂
I treated myself to a year’s subscription after reading a few articles that I probably saw linked to on BlueSky. For some reason most of the people who follow me there are from US, don’t know why, so prob came from one or more of them. Haven’t had time to try the NYT quick crossword yet though.
Sorry, wittering on as ever! I’ll shut up now.
Stamer’s ‘reason’ must surely be his (or his advisors’) obsession with attracting Reform voters to vote for him. That so many commentators have pointed out that this is a disasterous strategy for electoral success – as well as resulting in policies abhorrent to many would-be Labour voters – somehow escapes them.
Starmer is a political imbecile, without principal, morals or integrity.
Starmer is just a RIshi Sunak tribute act and just as inept with it.
If acts like a fascist, invokes fascist imagery and utilises fascist tactics, the chances are pretty high that it’s a fascist.
This is Blairite political triangulation, which itself is the progeny of Gidden’s ‘The Third Way’.
But it is also Starmer’s Labour Party ‘taking the world as they find it’.
What sort of politics is ‘taking the world as you find it’? Is it politics at all?
If politics is related to democracy, a function of it, then this is not politics at all. It is basically a ‘do nothing’ approach’ – it does not recognise any inherent competition between sections of society and attempts to compromise or accommodate. It is the acceptance of a status quo. It is the non-politics of oligarchy. It is a one way street.
Starmer’s Labour Party then has ceased to function as political party. It is simply a management hierarchy.
I like that.
Interesting picture of Starmer. Adria Ferries operate from the port of Durres
across to Italy. Durres being around 38km from Tirana. Perhaps it’s a case of associating ferries, sea crossings, migrants etc to re-inforce the constant media bombardment of anti migrant sentiment.
Interesting in that it is intensely stage managed to link to boats and migration. He really is a charlatan.
Saw an interesting video on YouTube form “Economy Talk”. According to this video more immigrants entered the UK in 2024 from Ukraine, Hong Kong and the USA total than from ‘small boats” by a long shot.
Correct
Also, according to TLDR News via a YouTube Video:
The Labour Government has earmarked funds to train 60,000 construction workers in the next two years but with COVID retirement and transient workers leaving the UK, 240,000 construction workers are needed across all levels form low-skilled helpers entry-level to experienced high-skilled journeymen and certified license holders according to “The Associated General Contractors” trade association of the UK.
Does the UK even have the instructors and teaching personnel to train 60,000 new construction workers promised let alone the 240,000 construction workers needed?
Does Sir Keir understand that people laid off from positions as assistant Dons at Cambridge, Oxford, UCL are NOT qualified to educated and train construction workers?
Very appropriate.
Thanks
Ah Durres! That takes me back to 1997 when a missionary friend of mine was part of a very hairy evacuation of foreigners from Albania via Durres (under fire). He survived but was v traumatised.
Not perhaps, the picture Starmer wanted me to have in my mind?
I did wonder briefly if the ferry might be a P&O one about to be impounded for non-payment of port fees, but no such luck.
The more I look at that picture, the more utter contempt I have for that thoroughly immoral man. I was starting from sewer level anyway, but it’s plummeting rapidly with every word he utters. Can he get any lower?
Angela Rayner used to get into trouble for using the phrase “Tory scum”. She’s going to have to recalibrate fast as her own party dives headfirst into its own ever-deepening self-made moral sinkhole.
According to the press release: “During the first ever official visit to Albania by a UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer will visit the Port of Durres to see firsthand how UK cooperation is intercepting people smugglers, deterring would-be migrants and snaring criminals using fake documents.”
I’m sure the Italians are grateful for our help with policing people taking the ferry to Bari or Ancona.
But at least the dear leader got his photo op for GammonBritNews about stopping the boats or smashing the gangs or going further and faster or whatever the slogan du jour happens to be.
Could the reason he took GB news be the fact that Farage has/had a show on there, as did Darren Grimes, a Durham councillor for reform?
Grimes was sacked, although he says he left.
Starmer wants to ingratiate himself with the people who voted for reform.
