To compliment Mike’s prayer I’d recommend watching the latest “sermon” from Lawrence O’Donnell, who superbly dissects and demolishes numerous moments of nonsense and theater that took place in the court of King Trump (or Donny two dolls), yesterday.
Of great interests to us Brits is his analysis of the US-UK “trade deal”, which, as Lawrence points out, isn’t worth the paper it’s written on because only Congress – NOT THE PRESIDENT – can approve trade deals, and thus, as all these tariffs and related actions are being challenged in numerous court proceedings, they are, in fact, mere theater to keep Trump happy and entertained. I wonder if Starmer appreciates this, or whether “Wizard” Mandelson has even bothered to explain it to him (i.e. that everything could be back to square one in a matter of weeks – although, ditto, also with the tariffs gone – if Trump accepts what the courts rule, of course).
Anyway, worth watching the segment to the end as O’Donnell lambasts Howard Lutnick (jewish) for finding it oh so funny, when Trump makes a joke about Chuck Shumer (jewish) becoming a “Palestinian” (simply because he voiced concern at what’s going on in Gaza). I’d just add, isn’t Mandelson also jewish? I wonder if he also laughed at Trump’s insult. Sadly the camera angle doesn’t allow us to see that.
