There were some mild rumblings yesterday that moderation on this blog took quite a long time to happen yesterday morning. I am afraid that might be the same today and on Monday. I might have announced my forthcoming retirement, but my commitments to what I call 'the day job' have not ended as yet, and have to be honoured.
I will moderate as and when I can today, but please be tolerant if there is a delay. These things happen.
Thanks for reading this post.

More self indulgent nonsense…I know it is a social life for a few saddo’s but it is a free blog FFS, it doesn’t matter..but you love to tell the saddo’s how busy and important you are..like I say, self indulgent nonsense.
The only saddo is someone who thinks it worth commenting in the way you have.
Is your life really that empty?
Why not try doing something useful today?
I suspect that ‘Casey Keller’ is the same troll who uses professional football players’ names as pseudonyms whenever s/he pops up in the comments. In this case, the troll has changed ‘Kasey’ to ‘Casey’. How clever.
I missed that
Ah, this particular troll used the name of an American goalkeeper this time, though it should be Kasey with a K. Always sportsmen selected, though he does at least usually manage to spell their names correctly.
What a strange little man he must be. Can you block IP addresses, Richard? Getting rid of him might make life easier as you won’t need to bother waste time responding to his pointless posts.
Unless he uses a VPN, I suppose.
They all use VPNs
They are that sad
@Casey Keller
Wacko ideas and theories are welcome here as they generate discussion and debate.
However, bad manners and personal attacks are NOT tolerated here as they do nothing but spoil everyone’s day, disrupt train of thought and take up too much space.
Thanks
Understood.
I am grateful that such a blog & the ability to comment in a civilised environment exists & thus you have my thanks..
Thanks
Posts like ‘Casey Keller’s’ are proof that someone somewhere finds your blog to be inconvenient which confirms that you must be doing something right to be honest.
I agree
It’s quite amusing so many of them read it so often
With apologies to Oscar Wilde
There is only one thing worse than being in demand which is not being in demand
The comments on your YouTube videos are also sprinkled with trolls, who clearly don’t watch the videos, and make inane remarks. You have to wonder what they are getting out of making them.
It’s good that there are far more genuine comments, most of them positive, a few questioning the facts or the logic, but on the whole, it’s still a healthy environment.
I am astonished how positive it is
Casey Keller might also want to go on a course of basic English punctuation. And learn some manners, of course. Neither seems likely.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks
I really look forward to your blog. As for moderation, I’m not sure what that refers to but I haven’t found anything contentious or offensive though I usually only read your initial article. Keep at it, please.
I read all the comments before they see posted here. This is what moderation is. The aim is to make this a safe space fur discussion.
Anybody who complains about the speed of moderation on a one person blog needs to give their heads a shake. You can not be serious expected to be on line 24/7.
If posters have to wait several hours then so be it. You have a life and without out your blog we would be worse off.
Thanks
Been birding this afternoon
