I have been accused of not being in cheery mood this morning, so I offer this as evidence that I can look for all that is good in life too.
Taken on Saturday, and I have no idea what conifer this is, but I loved this stunning impression of new life:
NB: I am told it is a Maritime Pine, also known as Bournemouth Pine, Pinus pinaster

Bollocks!!
Considering the considerable work you put in on behalf of humanity, you have every right to be grumpy and despondent every now and then. You’re only flesh and blood like the rest of us.
Do you hear me?
And you have every REASON to be despondent as well.
Yes – we might pull back from the brink and there are plenty of people who share your concerns but the species is not in a good place at the moment.
A word in your ear?
Keep the positive ‘we can do better’ stuff for Twitter.
(Despondency BTW is just one of many words for facing and assessing reality.)
Do ‘despondency’ here. It’s your blog damn it!
Just a suggestion.
It seems to be going well there
If that is the case then good – fair enough.
But your creativity to me is your best asset and its most hopeful part too.
Writing is my vocation, not my job
I will not, for example, do any university work this coming weekend
But asking me not to write about what I care about is like asking the person in debt though no fault of their own to stop worrying where the next meal comes from
It is about cancelling someone in the most emphatic terms
Hmm. Hard to tell from the tight crop. Is it the same tree with those long needles?
Perhaps an Abies koreana, or a Picea purpurea?
Same tree…
Oh, you’ve added the species (or I missed it before). The trees I mentioned have much shorter needles, but I assumed it was a pinecone.
I agree could well be the flower of a Pinus pinaster before it opens fully. eg https://www.sciencephoto.com/media/17623/view/maritime-pine-flower-pinus-pinaster-
🙂
I was informed by email…
What a beautiful photo. Thank you.
