I share this, because I agree with all that Led by Donkeys have to say, the way that they say it and Dr Jennifer Cassidy's comment about them. Please watch the embedded video.
Led by Donkeys may not have been the heroes we asked for, but there's no doubt, they're certainly the ones we need.
Watch, listen, be shocked, angry and share.

Hi Richard,
We’ve had an ‘alternative SAGE’ over the pandemic – we could use an ‘alternative exchequer’ that met monthly and gave the independent view on what should be done with rates, borrowing, VAT etc and you could disseminate MMT more widely to people…I think you would generate a lot of attention…perhaps you and Mr. Blanchflower could be the first two onboard?
Best regards
John
It’s a neat idea
It needs funding
It would also require that enough economists on the lefty agree with each other
When I was expelled from the so-called Progressive Economy Forum for wanting to cite Stephanie Kelton – which I was told I could not do – I think it unlikely that will happ[en
Neoclassical thinking remains firmly in control of the left when it comes to economics
That is an absolutely brilliant idea. Maybe Diem25?
I have no doubt that Mrs Dick head of Plods London will be on the phone to that other upholder of liberty and free expression Mrs Patel. The current “enabling laws” passing through parliament (one supposes modelled on those passed in Germany in the 1930s) will be modified to include the possession of a van plus display plus loudspeaker with intent to upset plods. UK liberty, dying with a wimper (& let’s not forget, Liebore are perfectly happy to see this stuff go through)..
This protest would undoubtedly be illegal under the new protest laws – it caused a nuisance
Your comment here is almost the most chilling thing about this episode – and, hideous to record, you are absolutely correct.
I have no difficulty in accepting the metaphor that BJ is the head of the OCG and Cressida Dick is “H”. Does that make me stupid, intelligent, hapless or a bandit? If I add that using an exemplary TV character to pierce the political veil of hypocrisy drawn around these events to try and pull the wool from the eyes of the public, does that change the position? Sadly (hapless/stupid/intelligent?) Ted is wrong about one thing. The police are not there to support the public. They know their place, which is to prop up their political masters. Bandits or not!
We must never forget that the key underpinning of government is the use of force. This isn’t theory, we’ve seen it time and time again with repressive regimes.
I lived in Doncaster during the Miners’ Strike. Force in great evidence there. We drove south to visit relatives while it was on. Police lined all the bridges of the A1 to intercept possible flying pickets and bus loads were travelling north.
My only slight consolation is that the tories have reduced police numbers so much that they probably couldn’t exercise such great control now should protest become nationwide.
But what about the army?
Who’s want to be head of the Met with a bunch of proto-Fascists at the helm of government? The same Government that has starved forces up and down the country of money since 2010.
As I think Maggie is trying to point out above, there is fine line between the legitimate use of force and authoritarianism that becomes blurred when you have a Government with anti-democratic tendencies like this Tory one we have now.
As for LLBD – although I had issues with Nick Cohen’s article in the Observer on Sunday, he was right about another issue – the way the Left/progressives have FAILED to explain to society how Neo-liberalism has actually made things worse – not better – for mankind.
I’d be much more impressed if LLBD took that on to be honest.
