More river walking today. These are wild horses (well, Konik ponies, actually) at dusk by the New River (yes, that really is its name) at Wicken Fen:
And sunset just a little to the north of where the horses were:
And for those who like ponies, this is one where I pushed the exposure a bit to make sure they could be seen. The ponies have the freedom of the fen. The advantage is that they control the growth of scrub:
I am lucky to live in this amazing landscape. There was almost no one else in sight around where the ponies were. It was worth the walk to find them.

Nice.
When exposing for flat landscapes, take the meter reading from the ground first, then recompose.
‘Expose for the shadows, and let the highlights look after themselves’.
And with digital you can always correct in post processing.
I am relearning this….
But I wanted the outline of the horses
Fair enough.
Or how about black and white or sepia toning?
How long have the Konig ponies been there? Who brought them in? Are they more advantageous than New Forest ponies? I suppose their population has to be controlled?
The National Trust
They are a very old breed
The great advantage is that they can withstand water
As far as I know they have not required control as yet
Great photos. I grew up near the source of the New River, in fact it ran along the bottom of our garden. In summer the kitchen was regularly invaded by gangs of teenage ducklings if we left the door open.
