Not sure about £50 restaurant credits – certainly I would use as many as I could get hold of.. I think restaurants will find the new normal fairly quickly.
I think we will have a 50/50 haves and have nots – so would expect quite a lot of spending from the haves.
I would prefer a VAT cut for home efficiency measures and some elements of house repairs e.g. insulation, roof repairs etc. Reducing VAT on construction related activity does help the properly registered contractor since he can compete with the less than compliant people that are over represented in the industry. Plus it increase labour intensive employment.
Changes to NI would be very welcome as it is self evidently targeted at employment. It will help struggling business to get back on their feet.
